Leonard Frank Yopa, 88, of Fayette St., Yorkville, Ohio, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at home with his loving family at his side.
Leonard was born May 28, 1928 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of the late Frank and Lena Poludniak Yopa.
He was a retired employee of the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Yorkville Plant, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Yorkville VFW Post No. 4811. He enjoyed working on cars, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and watching Ohio State football games.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Yopa.
Surviving are: his devoted wife of 62 years, Betty French Yopa; a son, Frank (Melissa) Yopa of Yorkville, Ohio; daughter Jodi Klempa of Yorkville, Ohio; grandchildren, Richard Klempa Sr., Dr. Nicolle Yopa and Frank A. Yopa; and his best friend, John âOllieã Prati.
Friends will be received to celebrate Leonardás life from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, Ohio. Services will be there at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. James Monogioudis officiating.
Burial will be at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio. A military service will be held at 10:45 a.m. by the Belmont County Council of the VFW.
