Victor James Sterling
Victor James “Red” Sterling, 76, of Upland Heights Yorkville, OH, passed away on Monday June 8, 2020 at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Dover, OH from complications of the Guillain Barre Syndrome.
Victor was born on July 5, 1943, in Martins Ferry, OH to the late Rev. Dessell and Kathleen (Stone) Sterling.
Victor retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Beech Bottom Plant after 40 years of service. Later went to work at R.M. Wilson as a truck driver where he retired after 7 years. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Church and also attended Trinity Baptist Church of McAllen, Texas. Victor enjoy bowling, dirt car and motocross racing, but most of all just spending time and helping his family in any way he could. Every winter he, along with his wife, headed to McAllen, Texas where he was blessed to have a large second loving family at his park where he enjoyed playing cards, bingo and just having coffee with the guys. Victor was a handyman that would take on and complete any project that was asked of him. He lived to help others and will forever be remember for all that he has done.
In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his infant grand-daughter, Courtnee Renee Tout and his son-in-law, Timothy Poch.
Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Linda (Harris) Sterling; three daughters, Vickie (Keith) Tout of Bridgeport, WV, Paula Kidner (Phil Widmor) of St. Clairsville, Pam Poch of Connorville Rayland; a son, Jeffrey (Lynette) Sterling of Upland Heights Yorkville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He has three brothers, Carl (Donna) Sterling of Oklahoma, Arthur (Marie) Sterling of Oklahoma and Robert (Sylvia) of Cincinnati, OH.
Friends will be received Friday June 12, 2-8 pm at Borkoski Funeral Home, 337 Jefferson St, Tiltonsville, OH 43963. Visitation will continue Saturday June 13, from 9 am until time of service at 10 am with Pastor Matt Close officiating.
