Samuel L Motto Sr, 80, of Rayland, OH, died, Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at East Ohio Regional Hospital, in Martins Ferry, OH.
Sam was born on September 10, 1938, in Martins Ferry, OH, to the late James and Anna (Kinkus) Motto.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Raymond Motto and two sisters, Connie Hood and Marsha Lane.
He was a graduate of Warren Consolidated; he served in the United States Navy, was a member of the Laborers Local #809, out of Steubenville, OH, a member of the American Legion Post 153, Tiltonsville and a former member of the Indian Club, Tiltonsville, OH.
Sam is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy (Ferguson) Motto; two sons, Samuel L Motto Jr and James (Lee Ann) Motto; a daughter, Missy (Tom) Dawson; a sister, Ceil Weir; three grandchildren, Trey Dawson, Cara and Ally Motto and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Sam and celebrate his life on Sunday, October 28th from 2-8 at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with vigil services at 7:30, with Father Thomas Marut.
Funeral Liturgy with mass will be held on Monday at 11 am at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, Yorkville, OH, with Father William Cross officiating.
Full Military services will be conducted by the Belmont County Honor Guard at Holly Memorial Gardens.
