Rita Karanzas, 90, formerly, of Yorkville, OH, passed away, Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, in Port Charlotte, FL.
She was born July 31, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the Late Louis and Mary (Mavros) Markantone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Karanzas and her son, Nicholas Karanzas.
Rita was a cosmetologist and operated her own beauty salon in Yorkville, OH, for many years before returning to school to teach cosmetology. First at Martins Ferry High School Vocational and retiring from Jefferson County Joint Vocational School in Bloomingdale, OH. She loved her trade so much, she worked the past 20 years at Legal Hair, in Steubenville, OH. She enjoyed being around and talking with everyone she came in contact. She was an active member of Church of the Life Giving Fountain, Martins Ferry, OH. She was a past member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and enjoyed singing in the church choir every Sunday.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Maria (Dale) Campbell; three grandchildren, Jason Karanzas, Kristin and Devin Campbell; a sister, Evangline Yialouris and several nieces and nephews.
Private services are entrusted with Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH.
Memorial contributions made be made to Church of Life Giving Foundation, Martins Ferry, OH, in Rita’s name.
