Richard Stanley Balk

Richard Stanley Balk, 80, of Yorkville, Ohio, passed away on March 27th, 2021 at home due to natural causes.

Richard was born on June 20, 1940, in Martins Ferry, OH, to the late Glenn and Stella (Sonk) Balk. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Grace balk.

Richard was a long-time resident of this area. He served his country as an army mechanic and an expert (M-14) rifleman in the early 60’s. He was a devoted husband and father for over 54 years, and was a long-time dedicated employee of Walden Industrial, formerly known as Belot Concrete Inc., retiring in 2020.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Irmgard; daughters: Belinda (Jake) Mitchell, of Bellaire, OH; Diane (Kenny) Ball, of New Comers town, OH; Carola Balk, of Brilliant, OH and Patricia (Don) Weekly, of Cape Coral FL; ; two brothers, George (Nancy) Balk and Glenn Balk;  14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and best friend, Brent “Binky” Nemeth.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Rich and celebrate his life on, Saturday, April 10th, from 1 pm until the time of service of 3 pm, at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with Pastor Jim Monogioudis officiating. Full military services will be conducted at 2:45.

A funeral reception will follow at the Yorkville VFW on Market Street.
