It was a glorious day on March 26th, 1942, when Patricia Dematte was born to Sarah Henry and William Harold Demette. Pat graduated in 1960 from Dillonvale High School with honors. She then attended Elliots Business School in Wheeling, WV. A year later, she enrolled at the Ohio University and continued to work in the main office of the New Co-Operations Company. She graduated with honors from OU and received her master’s degree.
She met the love of her life, Jerry VanBenden. After a short romance, they married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tiltonsville. Ohio, on June 5th, 1965.
Pat became a teacher at Adena High School, then taught several years at Jefferson Technical College. Now Eastern Gateway.
The couple was blessed with three handsome sons, J.R., Bill and Adam. Pat was preceded in death grandparents, George and Reta Henry, and William and Frances Demette, A son, JR. VanBenden, Parents Sarah L. Henry Dematte and William Harold Dematte.
Surviving are her two sons, Dr. Bill and Adam. Daughter in Law, Damara, and Grandchildren Will, Sara, and Elizabeth. Brother Richard Dematte and his wife Antoinette, niece, Tracy (Jay) Gatz and their children, Brother in-law, Timothy Rankin and his wife Joyce, and their children, Tim, Kelly and Kathy.
Best Friends, Borkoski Funeral Home are going to celebrate my life on Sunday, June 9th, 2024, from 4-7 pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be on Monday, at 9:30 from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiltonsville, Ohio with Father William Cross officiating.
Burial will be at Holly Memorial Gardens.
