Joseph A Karakas Jr, 63, local business owner, of Tiltonsville, OH, died, Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at his home.

Joe was born on July 27, 1957, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Joseph A and Mary E (Gulyban) Karakas Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother in-law, Anna Mae Mc Conville and his two special dogs, Katie and Whitney.

Joe was born and raised in Tiltonsville, OH. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to give a helping hand. He began his professional career as young man with Borkoski Funeral Home, where he was part of the family for 51 years. Later, he started working at Nemo Trucking. Ultimately, Joe started his own business, JMK Livery Service. Joe was very proud of the service he provided for the valley funeral homes and especially humbled to serve families at need. Joe was more than a big guy, he was good man with a big heart. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Maria (Mc Conville) Karkas; a sister, Mary Jo (Sam) Willis; father in-law, Gene Mc Conville; a niece, Krista (Todd) Orban; a nephew, Jerry (Tammy) Davis; two great nieces, Kaylee and Mackenzie; a great nephew, Jasey; his beloved in-laws and his dog Mollie.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Joe and celebrate his life on Sunday, October 18th, from 2-8 at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH and on Monday from 10 am until the time of service of noon, with Pastor James Monogioudis officiating.

Burial will follow at Upland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local dog pound in Joe’s name.
