Ethel Marie Gillespie

Ethel Marie Gillespie, 89, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away, April 2, 2025, surrounded by her family, at Sienna Hills Nursing Home.

She was born on July 28, 1935, in Barton, OH, to the late Andy and Mary Sabo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Babe” Gillespie; a daughter, Sandra Hess; son in-law, Lawerence Hess; her grandson, David Hess and her brother, James Sabo.

Ethel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina (Bob) Dentz; her son, Joseph Gillespie Jr, and grandchildren, Jennifer Dentz, Amanda Dentz, Kimberly (Erik) Niederhuber; her great-grandchildren, Brianna Miller, Mya Dentz, Tiden Hess, Andrew & Abigail Niederhuber and fur baby, Sassy.

Friends will be received on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 2 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 2090 Angle Ave, Wheeling, WV.

Private burial at Holly Memorial Gardens will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sienna Hills and Valley Hospice for the care they gave to their mother.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH.
