KOURIM, Edward Courtland, 63, of Rayland, Ohio, peacefully ended his 13-year battle with throat cancer and post-cancer complications on Saturday, 14 October 2023 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville; surrounded by his wife, Vicki (Girga) Kourim, and his children.
Ed was an employee of the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway for 20 years and Nickles Bakery for 16 years. In his younger days, Ed was known around the Ohio Valley for his skills on the baseball field and on the basketball court. He was a dedicated Ohio State University Buckeyes fan, who thoroughly enjoyed cheering them on. Ed’s greatest joy came from his beloved children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Kourim and Betty Louise (Watson) Kourim, and a brother, Michael Milan Kourim.
In addition to his wife, Vicki, Ed is survived by his son, Ryan (Chelsie) Kourim; daughter, Jordan (Tyler) Brookins; his sisters, Debra Maple, Darla Maple, Diana McKim; stepdaughters, Kerri A. Smith (Jeremy Grant) and Erika Smith ( David Cohen); Grandchildren, Zoey Kourim and Theo and Malcolm Kourim; step-grandchildren, Trenton Herman, Harley and Sasha Grant; and step great-grandson, Kodan D’Alessio and step granddaughter, Maddy Nieman and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Ed and celebrate his life on Sunday, October 22nd, from 1pm until the time of memorial services of 5 pm, at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, Ohio, with Rev James Agnew officiating.
