Dorothy Herman Obituary

With deep sorrow the family must announce the passing of Dorothy Henrietta Donley Herman

September-2-1927-January-28-2021 (93) of Yorkville, OH; wife of late William James Herman Jr;

Daughter of late parents, Genevieve Loretta Kappler Donley & Clifford Harold Donley.

She is survived by her children: Genevieve (Jennie Lou) Herman Henderson & James Herman Sr.

(Tammy), Grandchildren: Christie Henderson Minami (Wayde), Jeremy Grant, Cindy Henderson, James

Herman Jr., Danielle Herman; Great-Grandchildren: Steven Cook, Trenton Herman, Damian Grant,

Brooklyn Grant, Justus Chieffalo, Harley Grant, Sasha Grant, Dezmond Herman; Great-Great-

Grandchildren: Oaklyn Cook, Walker Cook and brothers in law Richard Herman & Chandler Herman.

In addition to being the mother of the 4 living generations that followed her, Dorothy donated her time

and served her community for many years. She was a long-standing member of the Tiltonsville Volunteer

Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and held various officer positions, the VFW Yorkville Post 4811 Ladies

Auxiliary and had held position of Vice President. Dorothy also was a member of SOAR Yorkville Chapter

and was the first woman to hold positions of both President & Vice President. Furthermore, Dorothy was

a member of Daughters of America and the Tiltonsville United Methodist Church, Tiltonsville, Ohio. 

Dorothy lived a full life. She enjoyed her family, traveling and being active in her community. She was a

woman of faith, determination, independence, grace, adventure and selflessness. The day may be a little

darker without her in it, but the night sky will be a bit brighter. Dorothy will be immensely missed by her

family and friends.

Viewing will be held at Borkoski Funeral Home on Friday February 5th from 2pm-4pm & 6pm-8pm and

on Saturday from 11am-12pm. Services will be held on February 6th at 12pm. Burial service to follow at

Holly Memorial Gardens.
