Donto Spong, 100, of Rayland, OH, passed away, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Trinity West Medical Center, in Steubenville, OH.
He was born January 31, 1924, in Martins Ferry, OH, to the late Dominic and Ada (Tesi) Spong.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Dolfi) Spong; his daughter, Donna Shannon; a brother, Alfred Spong and his sister, Sue Forte.
Donto was a graduate of Yorkville High school. He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Yorkville, OH. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and a lifelong member of the Pine Valley Sportsman. Donto was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to spend time in his garden.
Donto is survived by his son, David (Cyndi) Spong; four grandchildren, Adam (Melissa) Spong, Garrett (Rossi) Spong, Mathew Shannon Spong and Lauren (Chico) Matin and five great-grandchildren, Brody, Daiton, Elijah, Dominic and Garrison.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Donto and celebrate his life on Sunday, February 11th from 1 pm until 5pm and on Monday, from 10 am until the time of service of 11 am, at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with Father William Cross officiating.
Entombment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in Donto’s name.
