Dena M Spong

Dena Spong, 95, formerly of Yorkville, OH, died, Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Meadow Grove Transitional Care Center, in Grove City, OH.

She was born on August 19, 1925, in Erie, PA, to the late Louis and Margaret (Di Santis) Di Eugenio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mario Spong; three brothers, Romeo, Henry and Anthony Di Eugenio; two sisters, Josephine Rinehardt and Mae Wehrle and a half-brother, Samuel Di Eugenio.

Dena was a former employee at Stone & Thomas, in Wheeling, WV. She was a member of St Lucy Catholic Church, Yorkville, OH. Dena loved spending time with her family, and truly enjoyed baking and cooking their favorite dish.

She is survived by a son, Ronald (Mary Lou) Spong, of Rayland, OH; two daughters, Pegi (Marty) Bannan, of Grove City, OH and Joanne (Dave) Erbe, of Westerville, OH; a sister, Mary Will, of Erie, PA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Dena and celebrate her life Friday, September 25th from 9-11 am, at The Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 11:30, at St. Lucy Catholic Church, Yorkville, OH, with Father William Cross officiating.

The family requests that mask be worn and proper social distancing be practiced.
