Burton “Burt” Martin, 79, of Harrisville, OH, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Boardman, OH.
Burt was born on May 3, 1939, in Meadow Bridge, WV, to the late Robert Lee and Kathleen (Gwinn) Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Fisher) Martin; two sisters, Gathallee (Gaye) Mc Dougal and Glenna Martin and a brother, Novelle Martin.
Burt served in the United States Army. He was retired from Consol Energy and was a member of the UMWA. He was also proud that he was a D-11 Bull Dozer Operator reclaiming for the Silver Spade.
Burt is survived by two sons, Scott (Janel) Martin, of Eighty-Four, PA and Brian (Sarah) Martin, of Bethesda, OH; a daughter, Rebecca Martin (Jason Gregory), of Leetonia, OH; five grandchildren, Austin, McKayla, Noah, Emelyne and Briar Martin. Burt was the youngest of 14 children and is survived by two sisters, Lois Delaney and Olive Cervo.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Burt and celebrate his life on Monday, April 22nd, from 2-8 pm at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Adena, OH and on Tuesday, from 11 am until the time of service of 2 pm at Masters Funeral Home, in Mannington WV.
Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department and the American Cancer Society, in Burt’s name.
