Bill Dematte, 87 of Yorkville, Ohio, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Jan. 8, 1931 in Lehigh, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Ralph and Jesse Rankin Dematte.
He was retired from Ferro-Alloy Corp. in Brilliant, OH as the superintendent. He was an Air Force feteran, a Christian by faith, a member of the Yorkville Volunteer Fire Dept., a member of the Warren Township Lions Club, and the 200 Club. He was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Steelers, and was inducted into the Mt. Pleasant High School Hall of Fame. He was second team for Ohio All State basketball, and enjoyed fishing, walking, bowling, swimming, playing basketball, traveling, and dancing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jennie Mancino Dematte, his son, Bill Dematte, two brothers, Ralph and Chuck Dematte, and a sister, Dorothy George.
Surviving are a son, Jeff Dematte, and daughter, Roxanne Shand, both of Chandler, Arizona; sister- in-law, Clara McKnight, of Yorkville, OH, and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Danielle Shand.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, followed by a visitation at Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH. Fr. William Cross will officiate.
Belmont County Council of the VFW will conduct a midday funeral at 3 p.m.
