Richard L. Hunker Sr, 84, passed away, Monday, March 25, 2019.
Richard was born on March 4, 1935, in Martins Ferry, OH to the late Tyrus and Harriet (Laase) Hunker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L Hunker; a sister, Genevieve Thomas and his step mother Edna Smith Hunker.
After graduating from Martins Ferry High School, he served in the United States Army. He was a lieutenant in the Rayland Fire Department and was a trustee for 25 years. He was an active hunter and fisherman. However, his true passion was his love of 57 years, of his wood crafting in his shop. He was a life long fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes and loved spending time on the Veranda he built.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lorretta (Yeager) Hunker; a daughter, Brenda Hunker Staats; three sons, Rich (Roxanne) Hunker, Gary Hunker and Donald (Kathy) Hunker; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and two special nephews.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Richard and celebrate his life on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8, at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am from the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
