With overwhelming sadness, we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother on March 20, 2019. Josephine M. (Piazza) Nestor, 89, of Yorkville, Ohio, passed with peace and grace, surrounded by her adoring family.
She was born in Yorkville on December 10, 1929, the last surviving child of Sicilian immigrants, Frank Piazza and Rosalia Pendica Piazza.
Josie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Austin W. Nestor; brothers, Domenick and James Piazza; sisters, Frances Moffo, Felicia and Rosemarie Piazza, and Rosalie Jackson.
She is survived by her four children: Joanna (Richard) Snyder of Mt. Morris, PA; Guy (Carol) Nestor of Rayland, OH; Rosalinda (Jeff) Camp of Greenville, NC; and Lisa (John) Romeo of Morgantown, WV. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Shane and Jenna Snyder; Guy (Christina) Nestor II, Gregory (Amy) Nestor, Adrienne (Jonathan) Ward; Taylor and Rod Camp; Murphy and Paige Crisp; and three great-grandchildren.
A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters' of America, and the Catholic Women's Club of Tiltonsville, she also served the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 4811, and the Jefferson Co. Political Club. She was a former President of the Jefferson Co. Democratic Women's Club, the Buckeye South Elementary PTA, and the Golden Age Club of Yorkville.
Many knew her as âMama Josieã for the unconditional love she showed, not only her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but others she babysat and cared for over the years. Known and loved by many customers of Moffo's Pizza Shop, she devoted countless hours to help launch the family's business. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and delicious cooking.
Friends can celebrate Josephine's beautiful soul on Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be 10 a.m. on Monday, March 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiltonsville with Father William Cross officiating. Burial will follow at Upland Cemetery.
