Eugene “Newt” Horvath, 78, of Rayland, OH, died, Friday, April 12, 2019, at Park Health Care Center, in St. Clairsville, OH.
Eugene was born on August 28, 1940, in Glen Robbins, OH, to the late Julius and Mary (Kuhn) Horvath.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Julius, Henry Ernest and James Horvath and three sisters, Virginia Schultz, Mary Hamuai and Helen Bier James.
Eugene was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Plant, with 33 years of service; He proudly served in the United States Navy during the battle at the Bay of Pigs; he was a life long member of the VFW, Post 4811 and the American Legion, Flushing, OH and was a member of the Hazelwood Boat Club, at Piedmont Lake, OH.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine (Shuagis) Horvath; two sons, David Horvath, of Glen Robbins and Andrew (Penni) Horvath, of Drakes Branch, VA; two sisters, Margaret Kurko and Gazella Beveridge; three grandchildren, Kalyn Mehaffey, Andrew Paul Horvath Jr. and Derek (Renee) Horvath and two great-grandchildren, Kannon and Kayden Moore.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Eugene and celebrate his life on Monday, April 15th, from 12 noon until the time of service of 5 pm, at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH, with Pastor Cindy Foster officiating.
Full military services will be conducted by the Belmont County Honor Guard and the VFW, Post 4811, immediately following the funeral service.
