Charles Bruce Shively, 81, of Tiltonsville, OH, died, Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at his home.
Bruce was born on July 13, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, OH, to the late William and Geneva (Kimble) Shively.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; two sisters and two grandsons, Justin and Christopher Shively.
He was Methodist by faith and a member of the Hopewell Methodist Church, where he was the financial secretary, a trustee and was on the board of directors Bruce was a police officer for 25 years, a member of the Yorkville Fire Department for 25 years and an EMT. He belonged to the Martins Ferry Masons, Lodge 486, where he was chapter and council. Bruce also belonged to the El Tor Grotto and Osiris Shrine, both in Wheeling, WV. Bruce Also enjoyed being a football referee for 25 years.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 29 years, Grace (Bash) Shively; a sister, Mary Lou Skatula; four daughters, Vicky Olelcsiak, Carolyn (Ken) Pierpoint, Jane Ann (Don) Dombroski and Carol May Johnston; two sons, Kevin (Goldie) Shively and Keith Shively; the mother of his children, Marlene Shively; Eight grandsons; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; one granddaughter on the way and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Bruce and celebrate his life on Friday, July 12th from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH. Services will be conducted at 6:30 by the El Tor Grotto and at 7:00 by the Yorkville Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 10 am from the funeral home with Pastor Jim Huff officiating.
Full Military services will be held immediately following the funeral service.
